How to start
Three small steps. You only pay if you decide to carry on.
Book a free trial
Choose a 20-minute time and tell me your exam board, grades and topics.
Meet on Google Meet
See how I teach on a digital whiteboard, and leave with a plan for your exam board.
Decide afterwards
Book paid lessons if you'd like to continue. Otherwise, there's nothing to pay.
In every paid lesson
- BeforeI plan from your board, grades and topics. The Meet link and reminders come by email.
- DuringWhy each step works, worked examples, recall practice, then exam questions marked against the mark scheme.
- AfterWhiteboard notes and homework go in our shared Google Classroom.

Hi, I'm Kofi
I teach for understanding, not memorisation. If a topic isn't making sense, we work out why each step works, go through worked examples, then you recall it and try exam questions, checked against the mark scheme.
I got A*A*A*A* at A-level, including Chemistry, so I know these exams from the inside. I remember balancing mocks, predicted grades and university applications at the same time.
I have 5 years of tutoring experience and have taught 45+ students across subjects.
- A*A*A*A*at A-level, including Chemistry
- 9s and 8sat GCSE: five grade 9s, five grade 8s and an A* in Further Maths
- 4 boardsAQA, OCR A, OCR B (Salters) and Edexcel
- 5 yearsof tutoring experience, 45+ students across subjects
What parents said about my earlier tutoring
These are all three reviews from my earlier GCSE Maths, GCSE Physics and 11+ Maths tutoring on Tutor Hunt, word for word (shortened where you see …). They describe how I teach, not results from A-level Chemistry lessons.
“My son was struggling with physics and maths … This tutor was brilliant.”
“… so patient and calm with my daughter. He works brilliantly with students in a calm, patient manner ensuring that they have grasped the topic for the day. I would 100% recommend.”
“He is friendly, always on time and reliable.”
Free: three A-level Chemistry cheat sheets
Yours to keep, whether or not you book. Tell me where to send them and they'll arrive in a few minutes.
Three one-page PDFs: the moles and calculation formulas with units, an organic reaction map with reagents and conditions, and the required practicals for each board side by side. Suitable for AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards. Free to share.
Three places calculation marks go
- In n = c × V, the volume must be in dm³. Divide cm³ by 1000 first.
- In pV = nRT, use pascals, m³ and kelvin: kPa × 10³, cm³ × 10⁻⁶, °C + 273.
- Use the mole ratio from the balanced equation, and scale up when only part of a solution was used (25.0 cm³ taken from 250 cm³ means × 10).
What we can work on
A-level Chemistry only, for Year 12 and Year 13. I teach to your exam board's specification. Tell me what's coming up, like a topic test, mocks or the summer exams, and we start there.
- AQA 7405
- OCR A H432
- OCR B (Salters) H433
- Edexcel 9CH0
Calculations and physical chemistry
Calculations, acids, rates and energy changes: moles and titrations, equilibria (Kc and Kp), pH and buffers, rate equations, enthalpy and Born–Haber cycles, entropy and electrode potentials. We work through hard questions step by step and check them against your board's mark scheme.
Organic chemistry
Curly-arrow mechanisms for substitution, addition and elimination, carbonyls and aromatic compounds, and multi-step synthesis routes.
Inorganic chemistry and spectroscopy
Transition metals: complex ions, colour, ligand substitution, redox titrations and catalysts. Mass spectra, infrared, carbon-13 and proton NMR, used together to work out a structure.
Practicals and exam technique
Methods, apparatus, errors and uncertainty for AQA required practicals, OCR PAGs and Edexcel core practicals. Command words, six-mark answers and timed past papers.
Questions
What will you ask when I book?
The student's first name, exam board, school year, current predicted grade in Chemistry, target grade, and the topics or exams to work on. You can also add a parent's email. This lets me plan the first lesson before we meet.
Who should book?
If the student is under 18, a parent or guardian should book and pay. You're welcome to sit in on any lesson. Students aged 18 or over can book for themselves.
If the student is under 16, a parent or guardian books, signing in with their own Google account. Students aged 16 or 17 can book themselves if they add a parent or guardian's email, and that parent gets a copy of every email. Students aged 18 or over can book for themselves. You're welcome to sit in on any lesson.
When are lessons?
Monday to Thursday, starting at 5pm, 6pm, 7pm or 8pm UK time. The booking page shows the times that are free.
How do online lessons work?
We meet on Google Meet. The link is in your confirmation email. I write on a digital whiteboard that you see on your screen. You need a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, plus a calculator. Notes and homework go in a shared Google Classroom that I'll invite you to.
How does the 10-lesson pack work?
You pay £450 once. I then email you a private booking link. You use it to book each of your 10 lessons, with no more payments. Unused lessons are refunded at £45 each if you ask.
You pay £450 once, then book each of your 10 lessons on this site, signed in with the same Google account, with no more payments. Unused lessons are refunded at £45 each if you ask.
Which exam boards do you cover?
AQA, OCR A, OCR B (Salters) and Edexcel. Tell me which one when you book. If you take another board, please email me first.
Can we have a regular weekly slot?
Yes. Book the same evening each week. The 10-lesson pack makes this easiest.
What if I need to cancel?
Use the link in your confirmation email, or Your bookings on this site. Cancelling or moving a lesson is free up to 24 hours before. After that, the lesson is charged.
Are the reviews real?
Yes. They're the three reviews parents left on my Tutor Hunt profile in 2023 and 2024, quoted word for word and shortened only where you see …. They're about GCSE Maths, GCSE Physics and 11+ Maths lessons, which I taught before I focused on A-level Chemistry.
